Hey, we’re Barbara & Alyssa but you can call us Barlyssa.

We also plan, curate and collaborate on love-fueled weddings, events & luxury picnics throughout the Rochester community.

How did we get here?

WE FEEL LIKE WE’VE BEEN PREPPING FOR THIS ADVENTURE OUR WHOLE LIVES WITHOUT KNOWING IT.

It all began when Alyssa was a new student in the middle of the 4th grade and the teacher made Barbara be her friend on her first day. We’ve been best friends since then and have truly grown up together.

We didn’t know event planning was something that we wanted to do until we were pushed into it by a family friend, Adele Jones. She attended an event we threw and raved about it the entire time. Fast forward a year when her daughter was graduating from nursing school and she wanted us to plan and curate the event. Needless to say, we were all the way in. That was Homemade Events’ first official event and we never looked back. We knew this is what we had been training for our whole lives. Because Adele believed in us, we finally committed to starting the business of our dreams and this is one of the biggest reasons we are here today. She believed when we didn’t believe and for that, we thank her every single day.

Marshmallows in apothecary jars to look like cotton balls, pretzel rods dipped in colored chocolate to look like thermometers, small specimen cups filled with apple juice to look like, well you know; these were all creative ideas Homemade Events used to celebrate my niece's graduation from nursing school. Everyone was impressed. They listened to what we wanted and executed the party with professionalism, attention to detail and no drama. I highly recommend these highly capable and extremely talented women.
